About Hannah Shepherd.
I am a photographer based in Colchester, Essex and I primarily work using a digital medium, yet also am experienced in medium format and 35mm photography.
My work usually focuses around history and I enjoy researching and delving into a project thoroughly. I predominantly produce landscapes and architectural pieces. I have also worked on projects based around my own family history, being of both English and German heritage it has been something of interest to me since I was little. During these projects I have appropriated old family photographs and postcards to put together a sustainable and fascinating piece of work.
Along with photographing places of historical importance I also enjoy documenting the landscape and photographing a wide variety of nature, be it trees and plants, or animals.
I first studied Photography at Colchester Sixth Form College, where after completing my A Levels, I progressed to study Art Foundation at Colchester Institute where i passed with a Distinction.
I was accepted into London College of Communication to study BA (Hons) Photography in September 2009 where I studied a year.
I left London and started a BA (Hons) Photography Degree in Ipswich in 2010 at University Campus Suffolk where I am currently a third year. I will be finishing in June 2013.
During June 2013 my final degree work will be on exhibition first within the uni and then later at Freerange Art & Design show at the Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane, London.
